Hebrews 12:2 AMPC: Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
My dear friend in Christ, it’s obvious that our world today is filled with many distractions; making it difficult to focus on anything. This strategy will lead to the ruin of many because they will lose what’s coming their way in the process of being distracted.
Our life here on earth is a journey. When you are distracted at the point where you are supposed to take the next turn, you will never get to your destination. Christ is our shepherd. He leads us along this journey of life to eternal life. We must pay attention continually to him our leader, in order to know the next direction to take.
Paying attention to Christ simply means staying continually in the study of his words and never be distracted by the issues of life. No matter the circumstances around you, he is aware for he said “I will never leave you or forsake you” Deutronomy 31:6.
As you continually study him in his word, he will bring you to maturity and perfection for he is the finisher (perfecter) of our faith. The reward that awaits you is far greater than your current challenge or situation. Be strong! Recognize that which distracts you and take the bulk of your attention and time, work towards redirecting your focus back to God.
Declare to yourself loud: I will not be distracted. I remain focused on him in his words. Hallelujah.
Lord Jesus, bring me to the place of maturity and perfection. In Jesus Name. Amen.
