Luke (Luk) 6:47-48 CJB: Everyone who comes to me, hears my words and acts on them — I will show you what he is like: he is like someone building a house who dug deep and laid the foundation on bedrock. When a flood came, the torrent beat against that house but couldn’t shake it, because it was constructed well.
My beloved friend in Christ, Jesus again reminds us of the need to act on his word for our own good and safety. He knows that trials and tribulations await every man on the surface of this earth. Don’t be deceived. He never promised us a trouble-free life. He, however, gave us an understanding of what to do in order to always overcome. That is to act on his Word that we have heard.
Notice what this text did not say. It didn’t say the storm will come and bypass the house simply because you are with him or his son. Rather, it says the storm will beat against the house.
Your life is that house. The storm represents the issues of life, the negative ideas, ideologies etc that are contrary to God’s design and are capable of destroying you. But if you can store up his words in you and act on it, they cannot overwhelm you.
To act on the word is simply believing, saying and doing what the word says about you. For example, the word says in Deuteronomy 31:6, “… I will never leave you nor forsake you..” You act on it by not being afraid of failure in life, believing what the Lord has promised about you. And also speaking with boldness that the Lord is your safety.
I encourage you to look out for and meditate on God’s words concerning you and start acting on them. Let all your confession remain in line with his words in your life and you will experience a life of total victory. Hallelujah.
Declare to yourself loud: I am always victorious through Christ.
Lord Jesus, may I always act on your word; believing and confessing your word’s over my life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
