Be an imitator of Christ!
Ephesians 5:1 AMP: Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father];
My dear friend in Christ, today’s text encourages us to imitate God. To imitate is simply to do as you see another do. In the place of imitation, your opinion does not matter. On this wise, Christ who is the express image of the father, is the one we are to understudy in order to perfectly imitate God.
For you to imitate someone, you must first know about the person. You need to know how He thinks, how he feels and how he acts. Unless you spend time with such a person, it will be impossible to know much about the person. Jesus who is our focus, lived and walked the surface of the earth, showing us how the father thinks and feels and act. His life and time has been captured in the Scriptures. Therefore we now have a reference to begin with.
In the process of imitation, you will face distractions, temptations, rejections, being misunderstood and so on. Unless your confidence in what you are called to do is strong, you will give up along the way. Imitation is living another’s life and so you will not have all the answers and so you might be frustrated. But don’t give up. The one whom you are to imitate is your God. He knows the end from the beginning. You won’t end up a failure. I call you blessed.
Declare to yourself loud: I will imitate my Lord Jesus.
- My Lord and my God, teach me more about you that I may do what I see you do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Please add your personal intentions.
