The Lord is after the heart, not performance!

Matthew 15:1‭-‬2 NLT: Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”

My dear friend in Christ, religion has taught us that we must perform outwardly in order to gain internal transformation or approval from God. However, it is obvious that genuine transformation comes from within and not by outward performance. Majority of people prefer performance because it is good for their ego so that people can see them and praise them.

Jesus understood that it is from within that the transformation God is seeking comes from and so He ignored the regular traditional performances that the people put up. He also did not border to ask His followers to follow those traditions as well. This approach didn’t go down well with the teachers of the law. This is also happening in our time today. People want performance instead of transformation of the mind to be conformed to that of Christ.

Child of God, it is in your best interest to drop any aged long tradition handed down to you that involves performance and brings no internal transformation of the heart. This is why Paul writing to the Romans (12:2) appealed to them to allow their hearts be transformed instead of conforming to this world. Your heart is what God will judge at the end of time. Ignore what people might say now when you change because they won’t stand with you on the day of judgment. Shalom.

Declare to yourself loud: Jesus is my shelter. I have found rest.
