Engage your spirit in prayer!

1 Corinthians 14:14 TPT: For if I am praying in a tongue, my spirit is engaged in prayer but I have no clear understanding of what is being said.

My dear friend in Christ, it is good to pray with words we can understand in order to express our minds to God. However, there is a more excellent way by which we can communicate with God through the Holy Spirit that lives in us. That is by the gift of praying in tongues. This allows the Master Himself to speak and plead on our behalf in prayer because we are completely handicapped when it comes to knowing what to say and how to say it in prayer.

Notice what the Bible says in Romans 8:26 “in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.”

The enemy understands this very well and so he will do everything to sabotage your attempt to pray in tongues. You must not allow it or listen to his lies. Praying in the Spirit is for every believer. As long as you have the Holy Spirit in you, you must allow Him to pray through you using His own language. You will be denying yourself help if you insist that praying in the Spirit is not for you. First accept that it is your right and then He will step in to help you pray. I call you blessed.

Declare to yourself loud: the Holy Ghost is my helper.

  1. Almighty God, thank you for the gift of praying in tongues, help me never to trivialize it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
  2. Please add your personal intentions.
