Mark 13:5-6 AMP: Jesus began to say to them, “Be careful and see to it that no one misleads you. Many will come in My name [misusing My name or claiming to be the Messiah], saying, ‘I am He!’ and will deceive and mislead many.
It’s no longer news that many false prophets and teachers have presented themselves as the savior and messiah. Some have died while others are still in the business of deceiving unsuspecting church goers. Taking advantage of their predicaments and using it to their advantage. This is exactly what Jesus Christ was warning His people about. We must be vigilant and be on our guard.
To be vigilant in this context is to be aware. That is to know, become fully persuaded and seek sound knowledge of Christ. It’s only knowledge that can fight ignorance. Keep yourself up-to-date with the word of God. Constantly study the word of God for yourself and listen to other ministers who preach sound doctrine in line with the Bible. Do not be carried away by signs, wonders and miracles. They can never take the place of sound doctrine. That is why the Lord said, “my people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge… “. Hosea 4:6.
Make up your mind today to actively seek out the knowledge of Christ and sound doctrine by studying the word and by listening to ministers with sound doctrines. If you do this, no one can deceive you. It doesn’t matter what trick they cook up for you, you will detect them in no time and flee for your life.
Declare to yourself loud: I will not be deceived by false Prophets.
Lord Jesus, keep my mind open to know more about you and fill me with sound spirit to detect and stay away from false Prophets. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
