1 Corinthians 10:9 AMPC: We should not tempt the Lord [try His patience, become a trial to Him, critically appraise Him, and exploit His goodness] as some of them did–and were killed by poisonous serpents; [Num. 21:5, 6.]
My dear friend in Christ, today’s message is very important because that’s exactly what many people are doing now in the name of grace message. They do things that they know it’s against God’s command and they quickly interject when you correct them that grace has paid the price. Testing the patience of the Lord is something no one should ever consider because destruction awaits such a move.
There are those who feel that Jesus will delay His coming and so they want to continue in their evil. Others keep telling you that when they are ready, they will consider repenting with the mindset that God is a patient God. You must have come across people who have decided that they will go ahead and commit evil and then return to the Lord for forgiveness. Such is simply putting the Lord to the test.
God is patient with us because of the love He has for us. He does not want anyone to perish, rather that we all should come to repentance. We must appreciate Him for His love and patience with us and do our best to do what He wants from us. The Israelites abused this privilege in the wilderness and they never survived it. Let us learn from their mistakes and do what is right. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: I will not put my God to test.
1. Heavenly Father, help me never to take your goodness in my life for granted, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. Please add your personal intentions.
