faith

1 Timothy 1:19 NLT: Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

My dear friend in Christ, some believers assume that because Christ is merciful, they can violate their conscience deliberately and still ask for mercy. If you are following such a path, you are in danger of destroying your faith completely and falling away from the path of life. Paul writing to Timothy today pointed out those who have deliberately violated their faith, blasphemed God and destroyed their faith. Hence, he advised Timothy to cling to the faith in Christ.

You cannot claim to love God and then deliberately do things that are contrary to His ordinances. God left every believer with a conscience to guide him through life and warn him whenever there is a deviation from the path of righteousness. Have you ever been in a situation where you know that what you are about to do is wrong and then you ignore the warnings and go ahead? Perhaps due to selfish reasons or otherwise. Today we are called upon to avoid such things.

Nothing in this life is worth throwing God aside and following it. God created everything. When you keep God aside, you are telling the creator that you prefer the created things to Him. When your conscience begins to alert you (for it is the spirit of God that is speaking to your conscience), you are expected to make a decision of either following the path of God or your own path which eventually will lead you to death. God is able to help you and so there is no need keeping Him aside. All you need is complete truth in Him even in the face of death.

Declare to yourself loud: I refuse to violate my conscience.
