John 2:2-5 NIV: When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4 “Woman, why do you involve me?”Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” 5. His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
My dear friend in Christ, this passage is of great importance because Jesus was made to perform His first public miracle at a wedding ceremony. Jesus was able to identify with His people; He attended public functions and did not mind what people will say about Him.
Mary did not have to wait to be told before taking any action. Do you wait until we are asked to help before lending a helping hand? Where do you channel your challenges? Mary knew very well that her son was able to do something about the finished wine. Notice the confidence that she (Mary) demonstrated by saying Do whatever He tells you. Do you have confidence in the Lord Jesus whenever we present our intentions to Him?
The need to bring our will under subjection by obeying the voice of the spirit is also very crucial. Mary Knew that Jesus was about to do the impossible. The apostle may even argue with His instructions. But Mary had to warn them early enough to do whatever He tells them.
I encourage you today to always pay attention to the things He is asking us to do and to do it without complaining or argument. The things we are asked to do may not make any human sense. But God in His Kindness is patient with us to do what He has commanded us; so that He can bless us and bring us out of shame.
Declare to yourself loud: I will do your will oh Lord.
My Father and my God, fill me with your grace to share this great news to as many people as possible. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
