Lamentations 3:39 AMPC: Why does a living man sigh [one who is still in this life’s school of discipline]? [And why does] a man complain for the punishment of his sins?

My dear friend in Christ, life is a school where we all must pass through. And in every school, there are disciplinary measures designed to keep the students in check when they violate the laws of the school. So it is with life. Make no mistakes that you are free to do what you want in this life. Also, know today that there are laws governing life and there are consequences designed in response to any form of violation of these laws.

As a child of God, you must undergo this process because you are still human. If you violate any of the laws governing life, there is a punishment waiting for you. It might take some time or it can be immediate. Therefore be careful about your life and don’t complain when you are being disciplined. It is for your benefit. However, know that you have an advantage over the unbeliever who also has to go through the same process.

Your advantage as a believer is the Holy Spirit who is always there to help you go through the challenges. Furthermore, the mercy of God if employed can bypass certain punishment which you are meant to suffer because of what Christ has already suffered for you. However, you must ask for it. Jesus said that you should approach the throne of grace and obtain mercy. Hebrews 4:16. Therefore, if you fail to do so, He cannot force His mercy on you.

In conclusion, do your best to follow God’s way instead of the world. Don’t complain when God disciplines you. Ask for mercy from the Lord knowing that He will grant it to you and provide a means of escape from your challenges. I call you blessed.

Declare to yourself loud: I won’t complain anymore.

1. Precious Holy Spirit, guide me through life that I may endure the pains that come from the Lord’s discipline, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. Please add your personal intentions.
