John 19:17 NLT: carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (in Hebrew, Golgotha).
My dear friend in Christ, today we see Jesus carrying the cross by himself all for our sake; showing us an example to follow. He gave His life for you and me to be free. We were due to die but He took our place. Jesus saw this moment in the garden of Gethsemane and prayed for God to take away the cup of suffering but He said not His will but that of His father. Hence, He faced His fears and bore the consequences for the greater good.
See what He said to His disciples: “Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?”
Matthew 16:24-26 MSG.
I know that the challenges of life are enormous, but don’t give up on God and run away from your fears. Face it. Conquer it with the help of Christ. I call you blessed.
Declare to yourself loud: I will face my fears in Jesus Name.
1. Lord Jesus, thank you for carrying the cross on my behalf.
2. Precious Holy Spirit, help me to face my fears and carry my cross daily, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
3. Please add your personal intentions.
