James 1:5 AMPC: If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
Each time I go through this passage of the scripture, I feel so excited and grateful to God for who He is. I also thank God that He is not a man. Each time you mention the word “give” to an average person, the thoughts of shortage, not enough to give, how often should I give, what did you do with the one I have given before, give me account of my past givings etc will suddenly flood his heart. Sometimes it immediately translates to anger and sadness arising from the thought of not enough so why should I give?
God on the other hand is always ready to give to everyone (note everyone) meaning that He doesn’t give to you simply because you have done well or because you are a Christian or anything. It is because that is His nature. The Bible records that He gives without finding faults. Isn’t that amazing? All He needs from you is to believe that He is, when you come asking.
Wisdom is something we all need to navigate through this life. The Bible wants everyone to have it. And so it admonishes us to ask God for wisdom and He is ready to give it to you without finding fault in you. More so, He is ready to give you wisdom without measure. So the next time you think you are not getting what you have been asking, then simply ask yourself if you truly believe that you will get what you are asking. Be confident when you come to Him for your needs. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: my God is a giving God.
Heavenly Father, bless me with abundant wisdom to serve you and walk through life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
