1 Corinthians 3:1 NLT: Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ.
My dear friend in Christ, when a man becomes born again, he is automatically an infant in the body of Christ. And just as you have seen from our text today, he is not different from people of this world in terms of understanding and character. He will still be exhibiting characters similar to those of this world. That is why some people don’t seem to understand why some will claim to be born again and yet living as though he is not.
There is a place for mature brethren or those who have come to the knowledge and are now spiritual. To be a spiritual person is not about boasting or saying it. A simple litmus test can reveal if you are spiritual or not. This is captured in 1 Corinthians 3:3 “for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?”
Therefore, it is obvious that when you are still controlled by your sinful nature, you are not yet spiritual. You need to reevaluate your life and begin to earnestly desire to grow in the faith of Christ. Throw away pride and allow yourself to be trained into maturity. Christ is coming again for a glorious church and you must do all you can by the help of the Holy Spirit. And when you attain spiritual stature, strengthen your brethren. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: I will grow up in the faith of Christ.
1. Precious Holy Spirit, I love you. Bring me to the place of maturity in Christ, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. Please add your personal intentions.
