Amos 5:23‭-‬24 NLT: Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.

My dear friend in Christ, the character of the God we serve is not hidden. He loves justice and hates iniquity. Looking at our world today, many people spend a lot of time trying to impress God with their praise, music, hymns, and so on. But after that, they return to their normal life of injustice and unrighteousness. Our text today noted that God will turn away his eyes from your music and praise if you don’t stop injustice. He values your just dealings and your right living more than praise.

In the quest to amass wealth, many businesses have device means of cheating customers. Look at what the Bible says in Proverbs 11:1 “A false balance and dishonest business practices are extremely offensive to the Lord, But an accurate scale is His delight.” The word “extremely offensive” should tell you the gravity of the offense and why you must avoid such things. Don’t join others and say “that’s how it is done in this line of business” thereby giving yourself an excuse for evil.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you never to get involved in dealings that will cheat others to enrich you. The Lord has provided all your needs in Christ Jesus. There is no need for cheating others. It’s a mentality of not enough and so you want to grab and acquire more than you need. With God, there is no insufficiency. Believe that God is your ultimate provider. When you engage in practices that seek to cheat others, you are telling God that what He is giving you is not enough and so you want to cheat others to have more. This should not be so as a child of God. Finally, teach others this truth about God and He will surely reward you. Shalom.

Declare to yourself loud: I will not cheat others in my business.
