Acts 19:2 AMP: He asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed [in Jesus as the Christ]?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

My dear friend in Christ, it is very important to know what you believed and in whom you believed. In our text today, we see the people of Ephesus saying to Paul that they have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit let alone receiving Him. Yet they called themselves believers. This is why Paul was surprised that they haven’t heard about the Holy Spirit. There are many people like that today. They say that they are Christians but they don’t really know who Christ is. They have no idea who the Holy Spirit is to them. They are not even sure if they are saved or not.

It is an error to continue living in this life with the thought that you have been saved when actually you don’t know for sure if you have been saved or not. What did you receive when you believed? The religious mindset will say, do not question anything. Just do as you are told. This is a grave error from the devil. God, Himself wants us to know Him so that we can freely relate with Him and know what belongs to us.

Paul in his letter to the Ephesians 1:17 said: “[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].” Without the true knowledge of God, we can never worship Him as He wants. We will only be putting up religious activities that have no meaning to Him.

I challenge you my dear friend to begin to seek the right knowledge about God. Get to know whom you have believed all these years. If you discover that you have been wrong all along, waste no time in making a turnaround. Align yourself with the truth and you will receive the promise of the Spirit which guarantees you your salvation. Shalom.

Declare to yourself loud: I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and I have the Holy Spirit in me.

Lord Jesus, fill my heart with the right knowledge about you. Help those who are not aware of you to become aware through your ministers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
