1 Peter 3:10 NLT: For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.
My dear friend in Christ, everyone wants to enjoy life and see many happy days. No one wants to go through life suffering from one challenge or another. Well, permit me to emphasize that there is a price to be paid in order to walk through life and enjoy the good things in it. That price is what the Bible talks about today: keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.
Your words are a reflection of what is in your heart. Evil words and lies proceed from an evil heart. Such a heart cannot bring forth good things. As the Bible record’s that A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
It is obvious that unless you allow God to circumcise your heart and allow the good in you to flow out, you cannot enjoy life and have peace. It is a sacrifice to speak the truth even in the face of danger. Lying in order to save yourself will rather ruin you. Foolish people assume that the more lies they tell, the smarter they are and feel that they are saving themselves. On the contrary, they are actually on the path of destruction.
I encourage you today to avoid speaking evil either about yourself or another person. Stay away from lies and stand on the path of truth even when your life is at stake. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it but whoever loses his life for God’s sake will find it. Mark 8:35. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: my lips are devoid of lies.
1. Heavenly Father, keep my heart from conceiving evil and my lips from speaking lies, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. Please add your personal intentions.
