Luke 22:42 NCV: “Father, if you are willing, take away this cup of suffering. But do what you want, not what I want.”
Beloved friend in Christ, sometimes we come to a point in our lives when we feel we must have it our own way. It could be challenges we are going through and we cannot bear it any more and we want to put laws into our hands and keeping God out of the equation.
Jesus today demonstrates what we should rather do; and that is to have it God’s way not ours. God’s ways are no longer hidden. They are plain in His words. But as humans, we sometimes don’t understand it but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can gain understanding of exactly what He wants from us. Jesus understood perfectly what the Father wants, but looking at the pain ahead and the aftermath which is the Glory that should follow, he decided to have it God’s way for the sake of the Glory that will follow.
We may not be able to see the end now as humans, but looking through the lens of the word of God we know that it will end well if we don’t give up. For the word of God says that all things works together for good unto them that loves Him. Romans 8:28. Letting God have His ways in our lives is also a perfect way of submission to the Lordship of God over your life.
Don’t seek to have it your way, seek His will instead. You are blessed.
Declare to yourself loud: Oh Lord, may your will be done in my life.
My Lord and My God, may I never seek my will. Rather, may your will be done always in my life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
