Matthew 3:3 NLT: The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord ’s coming! Clear the road for him!’”
My dear friend in Christ, we see John as God’s messenger sent ahead of Jesus to prepare the way for him. He was a voice shouting out to all men to prepare the way for the Lord’s coming. He said, “Clear the road for him”. It is obvious that he was not talking about a physical road. He was referring to the hearts of men. And that men should turn away from their evil ways, open up their hearts and receive the good news of salvation.
What type of voice are you listening to or do you represent yourself in our world today. Do we still have voices redirecting men’s hearts back to Jesus or we are now redirecting men’s hearts back to ourselves or to our idol (someone highly revered and literally controls our actions). We have many voices in our world today who are busy redirecting men’s heart to themselves and making themselves the center of their message and acting like a demigods. They control others to always do their biddings.
John understood clearly his role in the entire scene and that was why he always pointed men back to Jesus. He was tempted on several occasions but he kept pointing men back to Jesus saying “behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world”. Open up your heart today to recieve the word of God. Bid others to do the same. Jesus is coming back again. Do not be deceived. I call you blessed.
Declare to yourself loud: my heart is open to recieve the word of God.
Lord Jesus, help me to redirect men’s hearts to you alone. May my heart be always open to receive your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
