1 Timothy 2:1 NLT: I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
My dear friend in Christ, the word of God is reminding us to pray for all men irrespective of their race, tribe or color. Many times when we go on our knees to pray, we spend 90% of the time praying for our needs and that of our families. Some may not even remember to pray for others. Today we are asked to pray for all men. People in authority, people in war zones, people in hospitals, people in Prisons, people who are oppressed by demonic spirits and so on.
The call to pray and intercede is not out of place because the Bible says that He has made us priests and kings. Revelation 1:5-6. The work of a priest is to continually pray and intercede for others. Prayer is a vital part of the work of a priest. Therefore we are not to relent in our prayers for others and for ourselves. When we come to God in prayer, we communicate with him concerning His benevolence on us and also speak concerning those we care about here in this life. God Himself communicates back to us concerning what He wants us to do in order to fulfill His plans for us.
In the place of prayer, God reveals His deep secrets to us. Things to come in the future are also made known to His children. We cannot afford to substitute anything else for prayer. I encourage you to take this mandate very seriously and begin from today to pray and intercede for all people. Jesus Himself showed us an example by praying for all in John 17. Hence we are to follow our master’s footsteps and God will bless you as you do so. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: I will never cease to pray for all men.
Oh Lord my God, may I always intercede for all people in prayer. Thank you because I know that you have answered even before I pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
