2 Corinthians 1:9 CEV: In fact, we felt sure we were going to die. But this made us stop trusting in ourselves and start trusting God, who raises the dead to life.
My dear friend in Christ, have you ever been in a situation where you were very certain that there is no way out of a situation, especially when in danger of death. It could be inflicted by evil people or even sickness and you felt that all hope is lost. In such situations, many people will be tempted to give up on God and take matters into their own hands. Paul in our text today admitted that they trusted in their own abilities before they were confronted with a far greater challenge.
Notice that they realized that only the God who raises the dead can help them. They had to redirect their trust back to God. If you put your trust in your abilities, there are limits to what you can achieve but when you put your trust in God, there are no limits to what you can achieve such that even death will not be the end of the road for you because you have a God who is Lord both of the living and the dead. I challenge you today to reassess where your trust lies and make sure it’s on God alone.
Declare to yourself loud: my trust is in my God.
1. Oh Lord my God, turn my weakness into strength.
2. Precious Holy Spirit, divinely assist me in all my endeavors, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
3. Please add your personal intentions.
