Luke 14:33 MSG: “Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people and kiss it good-bye, you can’t be my disciple.
My dear friend in Christ, it is a sad thing that the rate at which people claim to know Jesus, yet they know little or nothing about Him or His teachings. Some, however, assume that some of His teachings are simple illustrations and may not necessarily mean what he says. Well, His kingdom is not of this world. Are you expecting what is obtainable in His kingdom to be the same here on earth?
Clearly put: you cannot serve Him or say He is your Lord and master if you are not ready to give up everything you own. Nothing else should matter to you whenever He wants it from you. Nothing should ever stand in the way of serving Him in your life. Are you ready to give up your sleep? Otherwise, how can you pray at night? Are you ready to give up your plans? Otherwise, how can you follow his calling in your life? Are you ready to give up your money? Otherwise, how can you give all for the sake of His kingdom when the occasion calls for it? I can go on and on.
If you really mean what you profess that Jesus is your lord and you are his disciple, then you need a thorough examination of your life. Begin now to make amends where you are not meeting up while still have the time because a time will come that it will be too late. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: Oh Lord, I live for you alone. I want to be your disciple.
- Heavenly Father, help me to give up all and make me your disciple, for you are all that matters, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Please add your personal intentions.
