Ephesians 5:2 AMP: and walk continually in love [that is, value one another—practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others], just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God [slain for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.
My dear friend in Christ, today, the word of God is reminding us to walk continually in love. Specifically, it points us to the type of love we are to have for one another; and that is the type of love that Christ has for us. Christ offered Himself willingly to God as a sacrifice and was slain for us. This was done out of love and compassion to free us from the power of sin and death. Christ loved us continually irrespective of our race, color, tribe, nationality, shortcomings or failures.
As God’s children, we ought to demonstrate this love to one another continually and not just for a while. Nothing should deter you from showing love to one another. Giving up on love is simply giving up on God. Our love should be devoid of selfishness. Christ is not loving us because we are perfect. So don’t only look for perfection before you can show love.
Today, many can only show love if they know that they are getting something in return. Some are trying to take advantage of you in the name of showing love. The love of Christ seeks only what’s best for others. From now Henceforth, learn to seek out what is best for one another. Eschew unnecessary hatred and bitterness for one another for whatever reason. Jesus never asked us to take that path of wickedness. For wickedness is simply the absence of love and ultimately the absence of God in a man. Shalom.
Declare to yourself loud: I am walking in the love of Christ.
Lord Jesus, thank you because I know that your love will forever remain in my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
